LAN
LEGACY
Making Technology Accessible to All
About Lan Legacy
Lan Legacy is a nonprofit organization run by high school students across the Seattle area, dedicated to bridging the generational gap in technology. Our mission is to empower senior citizens with the skills and confidence to navigate today's digital world. We do this by partnering with senior living communities to deliver hands-on technology lessons through a structured curriculum: covering everything from smartphone and computer basics to ongoing, personalized device support. While we focus on smartphones, we are able to support a variety of devices.
As technology continues to advance, many seniors are left feeling isolated from the tools that keep the rest of us connected, to family, to friends, and to the world around them. We believe that closing this gap is about more than convenience; it's about restoring a sense of independence and belonging. By teaching practical skills in a patient, judgment-free setting, we help seniors reconnect with the people and information that matter most to them.
Our work is a two-way exchange. Teen volunteers develop patience, empathy, and communication skills that come only from working closely with people outside their own generation, while our senior students regain confidence in a world that can otherwise feel like it's leaving them behind. We believe these intergenerational relationships have the power to strengthen not just individual friendships, but our community as a whole one lesson, one connection at a time.
