Who we are
Lan Legacy is a student-run nonprofit that has been serving the Seattle area for years. Over the past year, we have grown from a single volunteer into a dedicated team of seven, partnering with senior living communities across the region to teach technology skills through a structured curriculum and hands-on support. Today, the organization is led by Director Quincy Kelly, who guides our day-to-day work and our growing team of student volunteers.
Our name carries a double meaning. It is a play on “LAN,” or Local Area Network, the technology that connects devices, people, and communities. Just as a LAN links separate points into one connected network, Lan Legacy exists to link generations, using technology not as a barrier but as a bridge.
As technology continues to advance, many seniors are left feeling isolated from the tools that keep the rest of us connected to family, to friends, and to the world around them. We believe that closing this gap is about more than convenience. It is about restoring a sense of independence and belonging. By teaching practical skills in a patient, judgment-free setting, we help seniors reconnect with the people and information that matter most to them, whether that means video-calling a grandchild, staying in touch with old friends, or simply feeling less overwhelmed by a world that moves faster every year.
Our work is a two-way exchange. Teen volunteers develop patience, empathy, and communication skills that come only from working closely with people outside their own generation, while our senior students regain confidence in a world that can otherwise feel like it is leaving them behind. We believe these intergenerational relationships have the power to strengthen not just individual friendships, but our community as a whole, one lesson and one connection at a time.
Mission Statement
Lan Legacy is on a mission to make technology accessible to everyone. Through student-led lessons at senior living communities across Seattle, we teach practical digital skills that restore independence, spark connection, and bring people closer to the world around them.
